One of the greatest Formula 1 photographers, Bernard Cahier, has died at the age of 81. Cachier was born in Marseilles in 1927 and began his career in the sport in 1952. The photographer had been working actively until 1980s.

The extensive memoirs of Bernard Cahier are now available in a massive two volume set containing more than 1,300 black & white photographs over 768 pages.

GrandPrix.com has a very informative story about Cachier and I highly recommend to check it out.
