When Vijay Mallya took over the Spyker F1 team and made it into Force India, I thought this would open a wonderful chance for Indian drivers to get back to the royal racing sport again.

Unfortunately, this did not happen. According to the new boss, no Indian driver is good enough for the team. Rather, Force India has been forced to rely on more experienced drivers. Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will be the team's main drivers and Vitantonio Liuzzi, another Italian in the team, will be a test driver.

I believe all of the Indian fans of Formula One had been expecting to see their countrymen in the the teams outfit but we shall not forget that Formula One is not only sport but a tough business as well. Therefore, Mr. Mallya's decision is fully rational.

Spyker F1 team new owner Vijay Mallya has announced that from the next year the team will be renamed to Force India. This was expected and I have mentioned the likelihood of introducing a new name mentioning India.

Thew new brand name for the team was revealed at Interlagos on Saturday. "We have applied to the FIA for a change in name of the company and the team from Spyker to Force India. I think that sums it all up as to why I am here." says the Indian businessman.

The name change has been approved by the Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone. However, it would still require approval from the competing teams.

Force India is the fourth name for this team. The initial name of the team was Jordan, then Midland, then Spyker F1 and now the fourth name is Force India.

Spyker Cars NV has agreed to sell its Formula One team for 88 million euros. The buyer of the Spyker Formula 1 team is a group of business people with Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol on board. The news spread today.

Spyker shareholders meeting is scheduled for 29th of September. The sale decision will be voted as well.

Unfortunately Spyker has not been able to turn the Formula 1 team into a profitable business since the dutch company acquired it from Midland for $10.6.6 million last year.

An Indian businessman and a member of the upper house of the Parliament of India, Vijay Mallya has acquired the Spyker F1 Team.

Mallya, who is the chairman of the United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines puts India back on the F1 circuit. Not only will India be mentioned in the updated name of the company, but this will give a perfect chance to Indian drivers to be on the circuit. Especially, this might turn to be a golden opportunity for Narain Karthikeyan.

India still hopes to secure a place in the Formula 1 calendar. The nearest opportunity is 2009. However, Mallya is already expecting a German designer Herman Tilke, who has done Bahrain, Istanbul and is now working on Singapore. Tilke will be flying to Delhi on Monday and will check the suitability of two-three sites.
